Brassbound five. Carlos Pellicer Anderes

Brassbound Five is a work written for brass quintet soloist and symphonic band. It was commissioned by the Sanganxa Foundation (Spain) for its premiere during the 3rd Back to Brass Festival held in La Llosa de Ranes (Valencia-Spain) in December 2018. It is a piece with a marked virtuosic character in many moments and great expressiveness in others, especially for the 5 solo instruments. The position of the soloists is designed to be placed in front of the director, between himself and the rest of the band in a normal semicircular position (trumpet 1, horn, tuba, trombone and trumpet 2), except at certain times indicated in the score where they will change the position standing up behind the director and projecting ?rmly towards the audience. Also, the piece at other times is likely to be accompanied by some kind of coordinated choreography among the 5 solo musicians, this possibility being optional and free (not indicated in the score).
