First Suite in Es Eduard Holst / Arr. Lorenzo Pusceddu

The First Suite in E-flat (Opus 28 No. 1 for Military Band), written in 1909 and first performed in 1920, is structured in three distinct movements in which a simple melody, reminiscent of an English folk theme, is used and transformed. This melody was created by the composer himself.
In honor of the 150th anniversary of Gustav Holst's birth (1874-1934), Lorenzo Pusceddu has curated this arrangement with the aim of making it playable even for small band ensembles. The idea stems from the premise that pieces of this caliber can be beneficial to the growth of bands due to their importance in the history of band repertoire as well as their undeniable musical quality.
