Argon is a chemical element, which is part of the noble gas group in the periodic table of elements. It is inert, odorless, tasteless, and colorless but produces a characteristic lilac/violet glow. Among the many uses of argon, there is the one implemented in surgery through surgical lasers used as electro-scalpels. Depending on the way in which they are used, these electro-scalpels can cut the tissue or cauterize the wound, as well as a combination of both. In this latter case, a beam of argon gas is used to coagulate the blood while surgery is performed. This composition draws a parallel between surgery and the dynamics that develop within a wind band. The first section of the piece (Cut) describes the work of the master (director-surgeon) who with his didactic interventions has a profound influence on the musical performance of the ensemble. The second section (Coagulation), on the other hand, represents the social aspect of the band, what we can call 'playful part', which develops around the common passion for music and the strong bonds of friendship that are created within it. But it's the union between these two modes (Cut/Coag) that allows the ensemble to give the best of itself and to achieve that balance between music and entertainment from which a healthy and constructive environment arises. Argon is the second of a series of works that the author dedicates to the noble gases.
