Bij de herdenkingen van '60 jaar Bevrijding' kwamen vooral de verhalen van de concentratiekampen weer aan bod. Aangrijpend was het niet geplande optreden van een ex-gevangene van Auschwitz die, schaars gekleed in de vrieskou, aandacht vroeg voor het vreselijke onrecht dat deze groep mensen was aangedaan. Deze verhalen herinnerden aan de verhalen van de familieleden van de componist, die in kampen hebben gezeten. 'Moving Spirits' is opgedragen aan hen die in de kampen hebben gezeten en er overleden zijn. De titel wijst op het feit dat deze verschrikkelijke ervaring deze mensen voor het leven heeft getekend. De geestelijke rust en vrede zullen wellicht nooit meer terugkeren omdat men blijft zoeken naar 'het waarom'.

At the commemoration ceremonies of the '60th anniversary of the Liberation' several stories about the concentration camps were brought up once more. Most poignant was the improvised act by an ex prisoner of the Auschwitz camp, scantily dressed in the frosty weather, calling for attention for the terrible injustice done to those people. These stories reminded the composer of the stories told by members of his family that had been locked up in those camps. 'Moving Spirits' is dedicated to those who have been imprisoned and those who have died in these concentration camps. The title refers to the fact that this terrible experience marked those people for life. The spiritual quiet and peace will perhaps never come back because one is still wondering 'why?'

tions du « Soixantième anniversaire de la Libération', de nombreuses histoires concernant les camps de concentration ont été remises sur le tapis. L'intervention improvisée d'un ancien détenu d'Auschwitz , à peine habillé par ce temps de gel, demandant un peu d'attention pour la terrible injustice infligée à ces gens-là. Ces récits ont rappelé au compositeur ceux racontés par sa famille dont certains membres avaient été prisonniers dans les camps de concentration. 'Moving Spirits' est dédié à tous ceux qui ont été enfermés dans ces camps et à ceux qui y ont péri. Le titre nous rappelle que ce terrible supplice a marqué tous ces gens à vie. La sérénité et la paix spirituelle resteront peut-être à jamais perdues car on cherche toujours une réponse à la question « Pourquoi ? ».
