[EN]The opera, composed and completed at the end of 1903, had its premiere in 1904 at La Scala in Milan, where it was a resounding failure. However, from the second performance onward, it became a triumphant success, and the opera entered the repertoire of theaters worldwide.
[DE]Die Ende 1903 komponierte und vollendete Oper wurde 1904 an der Mailänder Scala uraufgeführt, wo sie ein durchschlagender Misserfolg war. Von der zweiten Aufführung an wurde sie jedoch zu einem triumphalen Erfolg, und die Oper fand Eingang in die Repertoires von Theatern weltweit.
