Genius March Harold Bennett / Arr. Larry Clark

Here is another great easy march by Harold Bennett (psuedonym of Henry Fillmore). This march was part of the very popular Bennett Band Book series, which at one time consisted of 4 volumes. Hundreds of thousands and maybe even millions of band musicians have learned hot to play the march form from this famous collection of easy marches. This march is presented as Fillmore intended with only adaptions in instrumentation and orchestration to fit the needs of today's young bands. Genius is typical of the easy marches written by Fillmore. It has a standard march form with a modulation to the subdominant at the trio. Fillmore's easy marches usually do not contain a break strain section. This and other Bennett marches are perfect introductions for younger students to the march form, which is an important part of the heritage of band performance. The delightful melodies in these marches will make them a joy to perform for bands at any level of ability.
