Country Bandstand (c/b) James Syler

In this three-movement work, the title suggests the sounds of the traditional town square with its bandstand, which can be heard in small communities across the country. The first movement is based on the southern folksong Bachelor's Hall. Next is a chorale setting of the folk hymn Vernon. The piece concludes with the folk tune Happy Land, transformed into a barn dance. Perfect for community bands.
