[EN]Kalevala (accent on the first syllable) is the name of a collection of ancient poems embodying the myths and hero legends of Finland. It was selected as the title of the composition because the first Finnish folksong used is a Kalevala melody. Six different folksongs form the basis of the entire work, contained in four sections... and an introduction.

[DE]Kalevala (Betonung auf der ersten Silbe) ist der Name einer Sammlung alter Gedichte, die die Mythen und Heldensagen Finnlands darstellen. Er wurde als Titel der Komposition gewählt, weil das erste verwendete finnische Volkslied eine Kalevala-Melodie ist. Sechs verschiedene Volkslieder bilden die Grundlage für das gesamte Werk, das in vier Abschnitte unterteilt ist... und eine Einleitung.
