Odyssey wurde für das St. Galler Kantonsmusikfest 2024 in der 2. Kategorie Brass Band komponiert.
Das Stück basiert auf zwei musikalischen Themen : Das erste ist ein kurzes Fanfarenmotiv, das von Anfang an von den Posaunen präsentiert wird,
und das zweite ist ein Choral, der von den tieferen Blechbläsern beim Buchstaben B gespielt wird.
Eine Fanfare-Einleitung führt zu einem majestätischen Choral, dann zu einem Allegro, das von einem fröhlichen zu einem dramatischeren Ton
übergeht. Ein kurzer Übergang und eine Euphonium-Kadenz weichen einem introspektiven Lento, das ein Kornett-Solo hervorhebt und dann in
einem Tutti wiederholt wird. Das Stück endet mit einem turbulenten Vivace, mit einer Reprise des Chorals als Apotheose.
Eine Odyssee ist eine lange, abenteuerliche Reise voller Lehren. Bedeutung kann auf den ersten Blick interpretiert werden, aber auch als eine
innere Reise, eine Selbstbeobachtung voller Reflexionen und Fragen.

chorale played by the lower brass at the letter B.
