De titel zegt het al: een thema dat gevarieerd wordt. Niet het bekende 'thema en variaties schema', maar doorgecomponeerde veranderingen van het thema voor alle groepen van het blaasorkest.

As the title indicates you have a theme that is being presented in various forms. However this is not an illustration of the usual 'theme and variations' scheme, but a set of continuous changes of the theme by the different instrument groups of the band.

Comme le titre l'indique, il s'agit de variations sur un thème donné. Cette fois il ne s'agit pas de la structure connue: thème et variations, mais plutá'át d'altérations continues d'un thème par les différents groupes de l'orchestre à vents.

Wie der Titel sagt handelt es sich hier um ein Thema das variiert wird. Doch gibt es hier kein klassisches 'Thema mit Variationen', sondern durchkomponierte Bearbeitungen des Themas für die unterschiedenen Instrumentengruppen.
