I am in my 28/th year of teaching middle school and elementary school band. The last 18 years have been with District 833. This will be my eighth year at Lake. Previously, I was at Oltman Middle School and Armstrong and Crestview Elementary Schools. My Bachelor of Science with honors in Music Education degree is from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. My Master of Music Education degree is from the VanderCook College of Music, Chicago, Il.

I am very active in the Minnesota Band Directors Association, serving many times as an audition judge and section coach for the Middle Level Honor Bands and as a section coach for the Beginning Level Honor Bands. In 2012, I was invited to be the guest conductor of the Southwest Minnesota Middle Level Honor Band Festival in Marshall, MN. In 2012, 2013 and 2014, I was invited to be a guest conductor of the Beginning Level Band Festival in Cottage Grove, MN. In 2016, I was the guest conductor of the Southeast Minnesota Middle Level Honor Band in Austin, MN.

As a composer, I have ten pieces published for young bands, many of which have been performed and well received at the Minnesota Music Educators Association Mid-Winter Clinic. I have also been commissioned to write music for several area bands including "Liberty Celebration" for the Liberty Ridge Elementary School, "We Are The Mustangs" for Middleton Elementary School and "Vivacity" for Mahtomedi High School.

As a performer, I played for 19 seasons at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival, serving as my group’s musical director for the last 14. I have played lead and solo trumpet with many of the area’s jazz bands and combos including the Red Rock Swing Band. The Twin Cities Trumpet Ensemble, the Salem Wind Ensemble and the Shoreview Northern Lights Variety Band are also groups with whom I have performed.

My professional affiliations include the National Association for Music Education, Minnesota Music Educators Association, Minnesota Band Directors Association, American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, and American Composers Forum.
