Fontyn Jacqueline geb. in Antwerpen, 27. Dezember 1930. Im Alter von fünf Jahren erhielt sie erstmals Klavierunterricht bei Ignace Bolotine, später studierte sie Musiktheorie und Komposition bei Marcel Quinet in Brüssel, bei Max Deutsch in Paris, in Wien sowie an der Royal Chapel of Queen Elisabeth von Belgien. Neben demGrand Prix de Rome empfing sie mehrere Kompositionspreise. Sie gehörte 1970 bis 1990 als Professorin für Komposition dem Lehrkörper des Konservatoriums in Brüssel an.
