Two Dances

Two Dances

Two, rather randomly chosen dances by two composers who lived at the same time.

Dance from Czar and Carpenter Albert Lortzing
Albert Lortzing (1801 1851) was a German composer, who wrote cheerful and colorful music, for example in his opera Czar and Carpenter (Zar und Zimmermann). The Clog Dance from this opera is well known. However, a different dance has been chosen, one that resounds to a wedding scene.

Dance from Rosamunde Franz Schubert
Franz Schubert (1797 1828) was an Austrian composer, who produced an enormous oeuvre in his short life. The incidental music for Rosamunde also includes ballet music, from which dance has been chosen for this edition.
