Adolf Scherzer was military bandmaster with the 7th Bavarian Infantry Regiment at Ingolstadt from 1849 to 1864. His Bayerischer Defilier Marsch (Bavarian Parade March), dating from the second half of the nineteenth century, is one of the most popular German marches of all times. The fanfarelike trumpet calls backed by chromatic woodwind passages give this solemn march its quite original character. Willy Hautvast's fine arrangement for the modern wind band makes this legendary march finally available to all our wind bands.

Adolf Scherzer fut chef de musique militaire au 7ème Régiment Bavarois Infanterie à Ingolstadt de 1849 à 1864. Sa très belle marche Bayerischer Defilier Marsch (Marche de Défilé Bavaroise) date de la deuxième moitié du dix-neuvième siècle et est restée l'une des marches allemandes les plus populaires. Surtout les passages pour les trompettes en fanfare qui dialoguent avec des passages chromatiques dans les bois, donnent à cette marche de caractère solennel son allure exceptionnelle. Grâce à l'arrangement moderne de Willy Hautvast cette marche légendaire est à nouveau à la disposition de toutes les sociétés de musique.

Adolf Scherzer was kapelmeester bij het 7de Beierse Infanterieregiment te Ingolstadt van 1849 tot 1864. Zijn Bayerischer Defiliermarsch die uit het begin van de tweede helft van de negentiende eeuw dateert, is één van de populairste Duitse militaire marsen. Vooral de fanfareachtige trompetpassages die met chromatische houtblazerstrekjes dialogeren geven aan deze plechtstatige mars een eigen origineel karakter. Dankzij dit knappe hafa-arrangement van Willy Hautvast is deze legendarische mars weer ter beschikking van onze muziekverenigingen.
