When an Egyptian hero fell on the battlefield he entered the underworld named Duat. There he had to fulfill his last task: pass through all the gates guarded by monstrous creatures and enter Aaru (paradise). The composition starts with the killing blow dealt to the hero. On his journey through Duat he travels through large halls with pillars of jade and lakes of steaming lava. At the last gate his heart is placed on a balance next to a feather (symbolizing Justice). One whose heart balances the feather may enter Aaru.

Quand un soldat Egyptien mourrait en héro il entrait Duat, l'enfer, où il devait effectuer sa dernière tâche : passer toutes les portes gardées par des monstres, pour arriver à Arau, le paradis. La composition commence avec le coup fatal pour le héro. Après son voyage aventureux à travers Duat il arrive à la dernière porte, où son cur est mis sur la balance avec une plume (symbole de la Justice). Celui dont le cur est aussi léger qu'une plume peut entrer Arau.

Wanneer een Egyptische soldaat de heldendood stierf kwam hij in Duat, de onderwereld, waar hij zijn laatste taak moest vervullen: alle poorten passeren die bewaakt worden door monsters, om in Arau, het paradijs, te komen. De compositie start met de fatale klap voor de held. Na zijn avontuurlijke reis door Duat komt de laatste poort, waar zijn hart op een weegschaal geplaatst wordt met een veer (symbool van Gerechtigheid). Hij wiens hart even licht is als de veer mag Arau binnengaan.
