Five Cameos for Saxophone Quartet Alfred Reed

The saxophone quartet is as much a standard performing ensemble in the field of wind music as the string quartet is in traditional chamber music, and its literature, containing both original works as well as transcriptions and arrangements of all kinds, is a very large one.
A cameo is a small, delicate piece of jewelry, and my FIVE CAMEOS FOR SAXOPHONE QUARTET is a suite of five short movements, each one separate and distinct in style, representing the wide variety of moods and musical forms which this combination of instruments can express with utmost effect and conviction.

None of these five little pieces have any connection with each other; each is, in effect, a little tone picture in a form all its own. Yet together, it is hoped, they will make a complete, coherent unit as a single overall work.
