The five movements of this concerto, each, by design, in a different musical style, and requiring the soloist to perform on the three main soprano bass instruments: Trumpet, Cornet and Fluegelhorn, were written to demonstrate the modern trumpeter's ability to negotiate and produce a convincing interpretation in five different musical styles. The first movement, Sonata' is cast in a typical neo classical mode, calling the soloist to perform on the Trumpet; the second, Slow Blues' calls for Fluegelhorn; the third, Jazz Waltz', calls for Cornet; the fourth; Song', a modern setting of an old Taiwanese folksong, calls for Trumpet again; and the fifth, Samba', concludes the work with a brilliant outburst of Latin American rhythms and colors.

Les cinq parties de ce concerto, toutes conçues dans un style différent, permettent au soliste de jouer des trois instruments de cuivre sopranos; notamment la trompette, le cornet et le bugle. L'oeuvre est une démonstration des possibilités du trompettiste moderne qui parvient à réaliser une performance convaincante dans cinq styles musicaux totalement différents. La première partie Sonate' est écrite dans un style néo classique typique et nous laisse entendre le soliste à la trompette. La deuxième partie Slow Blues' fait appel au bugle; la troisième Jazz Waltz' est écrite pour cornet; la quatrième partie Song', un arrangement moderne d'une vieille chanson folklorique de Taïwan, est encore destinée à la trompette; la cinquième partie Samba' conclut le concerto avec un brillant feu d'artifice de rythmes et coloris latino américains.

De vijf delen van dit concerto, elk in een verschillende muzikale stijl ontworpen, laten de solist op de drie sopraan koperinstrumenten aan bod komen: nl. op de trompet, de kornet en de bugel. Het werk demonstreert de mogelijkheden van de moderne trompettist om een overtuigende uitvoering te geven in vijf totaal verschillende muziekstijlen. Het eerste deel Sonate' is in een typische neo klassieke stijl geschreven en laat de solist op trompet horen. Het tweede deel Slow Blues' doet een beroep op de bugel; het derde deel Jazz Wals' is voor kornet geschreven; het vierde deel Song', een modern arrangement van een oud Taiwanees volkslied, is opnieuw voor trompet; het vijfde deel Samba' rondt het werk af met een schitterende uitbarsting van latijns amerikaanse ritmes en klankkleuren.
