Sonata D minor

Anne Danican-Philidor (1681-1728) came from a highly respected family of musicians. In 1702, he became an oboist with the Royal Musicians of the Grande écurie and chamber music, and in 1704 he was made oboist of the court orchestra. In 1725, he founded the Concert Spirituel which he conducted until 1727. The work presented here consists of five movements (Lentement, Fugue, Courante, Gracieusement and Fugue) and follows the style of French baroque music. For the guitar version, the editor added fingering and positions. On the enclosed part of the viola da gamba (violoncello) you will find the original figured bass which enables a guitarist experienced in continuo play to work out an individual figured bass. In 1994, Birgit Schmieder and Johannes Tappert recorded this sonata on CD.

Sonate en ré mineur

Anne Danican-Philidor (1681-1728) appartenait à une grande famille de musiciens. En 1702 il devint hautboïste auprès des Musiciens Royaux de la Grande Ecurie et en 1704 hautboïste de l'Orchestre de cour. En 1725 il fonda le Concert Spirituel qu'il dirigea jusqu'en 1727. L'?uvre ici présentée comprend 5 mouvements (Lentement, Fugue, Courante, Gracieusement et Fugue) et fut écrite dans le style baroque français. La partie pour guitare du continuo a été munie de doigtés et positions par l'éditeur. La partie séparée pour viole de gambe (violoncelle) comprend le chiffrage original offrant au guitariste versé dans le jeu du continuo la possibilité d'une propre réalisation. La Sonate a été enregistrée sur CD en 1994 par Birgit Schmieder et Johannes Tappert.
