Brilliant Overture. Carlos Pellicer Anderes

Brilliant Overture is commissioned by the Brillante Brass Band (South Korea), written and premiered in 2024. There are two main elements in this composition that directly in?uence the sound, language and character of it. The ?rst: the title. A title that, derived from the name of the Korean brass band, will in?uence from the ?rst notes heard until the end. It is a brilliant sound from start to ?nish and with clear in?uences from the most forceful style of music written for the formation of brass instruments, combining agility, sonority and expressiveness. Secondly, the recurring element, also from the ?rst measure of the composition and which is constantly used as a cohesive element and compositional resource, is the second interval. Without a doubt, it is a composition that is born from this interval and the progressions on it, and that is always presented in the main moments as a cohesive element: introduction and ?rst part of the work, second expressive part and reexposition of the ?rst part with variation. An intense piece, forceful as well as very expressive and above all brilliant'.
