Ciardi composed the 3 Soli opus 124-126 (opus 125/126 published as ZM 31590/ZM31600) for Joseph Wenzel Köhler, a flutist working in Modena and later to become his successor as professor in St. Petersburg. However, the pieces were also dedicated to the clarinet virtuoso Ernesto Cavallini. This new edition is based on the first edition published by Lucca company in Milan. A few notations were updated and bar numbers were added for practical reasons.

Cesare Ciardi, né en 1818 à Prato en Toscane et mort en 1877 à Saint Petersbourg, écrivit les 3 Soli opus 124 à 126 pour le père d'Ernesto Köhler, Josef Wenzel Köhler, qui était professeur à Saint Petersbourg. Les morceaux sont s'autre part dédiés au clarinettiste virtuose Ernesto Cavallini. Les ?uvres de Ciardi, flûtiste lui-même, constituent un enrichissement du répertoire divertissant et virtuose du romantisme.
