Absolutely one of the most famous 'Canzone Napoletana' is 'Torna a Surriento' written in 1902 by the Italian composer Ernesto De Curtis (1875-1937) to words by his brother Giambattista. 'Torna a Surriento' became wildly popular, and has been sung by performers as diverse as Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Dean Martin, Enrico Caruso, José Carreras, Plácido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti, Ruggero Raimondi, Meat Loaf, Mario Laze, Giuseppe Di Stefano and many others.
