Francesco Molino (1768 - 1847) war ein berühmter Geigen- und Gitarrenvirtuose, dessen unstetes Leben ihn von seiner Heimat Italien nach Deutschland, Frankreich, Spanien und England führte. Seine Gitarrenschule op. 33 ist bis heute bekannt. Das Thema der Variationen op. 31 hat Molino sehr frei wiedergegeben. Möglicherweise hat er das Original gar nicht gekannt. Die Ausgabe ist ein Beitrag zu der im 19. Jahrhundert weit verbreiteten Bearbeitungslust, die sich heute wieder größerer Beliebtheit erfreut.

Francesco Molino (1768 - 1847) was a famous virtuoso both on the violin and the guitar whose unsteady life led him from his native country Italy to Germany, France, Spain and England. His guitar tutor op. 33 is still known today. Molino rendered the theme of the variations quite freely - it is possible he did not even know the original. This edition is a contribution to the eagerness for arrangements which widely spread in the 19th century and whose popularity is ever-growing today.

Francesco Molino (1768 - 1847) fut réputé virtuose au violon comme à la guitare. Sa nature de romantique vagabond l'emmena de sa patrie, l'Italie, jusqu'en Allemagne, en France, en Espagne et en Angleterre. Sa Méthode pour guitare op. 33 est très célèbre même de nos jours. Molino approcha le thème des Variations op. 31 de façon très libre. Il est même probable qu'il n'ait pas connu l'original. Notre édition constitue une contribution à l'art de l'arrangement, très à la mode au 19ème siècle et de nouveau en vogue aujourd'hui.
