Pas de Deux Fritz Neuböck
Pas de Deux is a French expression that refers to a dance for two, which is in most cases the climax of a ballet. Fritz Neubock's idea for this work was to write a solistic piece for two instruments. He selected the oboe and the bassoon, two double-reed instruments that are quite often neglected in the solo band repertoire. Both solo parts, as well as the band's accompaniment, are not difficult, so the piece can be performed by intermediate players. Following the ballet music, the piece becomes more classical, with a lyric first part in which both instruments play the solo line alone, and later as a duet. The second and faster part is filled with triplets, giving opportunities for the soloists to display their skills. After a short cadence, the piece concludes in the finale. Pas de Deux is sure to enrich the solo and duet band repertoire.Product information
