Sangen var med i «Nya huss av Emil i Lønneberget» og fremføres når faren jager Emil etter en av hans mange streker. Sangen ble utgitt første gang i 1978 i samlingen «En bunt visor för Pippi, Emil och andra».
Teksten er skrevet av forfatteren Astrid Lindgren mens den svenske bassisten og komponisten Georg Riedel har skrevet musikken.
