The famous pioneer of original Dutch wind music realised in the early fifties that the wind band had no classical repertoire at all. He thought this shortage should be completed with original compositions instead of transcriptions and arrangements. This little symphony was an immediate success and still belongs to the repertoire of many bands. Au début des années cinquante le grand pionnier de la musique à vent originale aux Pays-Bas, Gerard Boedijn, constate que l'orchestre à vent n'a, en fait, pas de répertoire classique et qu'il faut absolument compléter cette lacune, non pas avec des arrangements, mais avec des morceaux originaux. Cette petite symphonie a tout de suite connu un grand succès et se trouve toujours au répertoire aujourd'hui. Nous avons estimé qu'il était grand temps de faire paraître une nouvelle édition avec partition complète.

De bekende Nederlandse pionier van de originele blaasmuziek constateerde in het begin van de vijftiger jaren dat het blaasorkest eigenlijk geen klassiek repertoire bezat en dit dus een belangrijk tekort was dat aangevuld diende te worden, niet met arrangementen, maar met origineel repertoire. Deze kleine symfonie is destijds een groot succes geworden dat ook nu nog regelmatig uitgevoerd wordt. Wij vonden het hoog tijd om dit werk in een nieuwe uitgave te laten verschijnen, ditmaal met volledige partituur.
