Our series The mandolin in Italian baroque music wants to present Italian composers of the 18th century whose works have not been published for a long time. Lino Totaro, harpsichordist and conductor of the Ensemble Baroque in Turin, is responsible for discovering and selecting pieces for this series which are full of vivid expression and inventiveness. G.B. Gervasio, famous mandolin player from Naples, lived in Italy, Great Britain and Germany. The manuscript can be found in the University library in Uppsala/Sweden. The editor deciphered it, corrected it, harmonized the basso and supplemented it with dynamic marks.

La série Musique baroque italienne pour mandoline a pour but de faire connaître des maîtres italiens du 18ème siècle dont les ?uvres sont restées inédites pour longtemps. Le claveciniste et directeur de l'Ensemble Baroque de Turin, Lino Lotaro, a découvert et sélectionné pour cette série des pièces riches en expression et en invention. L'Italie, la Grande Bretagne et l'Allemagne: telles étaient les stations de Giovanni Battista Gervasio, mandoliniste napolitain fort renommé. Le manuscrit de la sonate ici présentée se trouve à la Bibliothèque de l'Université d'Uppsala en Suède. L'éditeur l'a déchiffré et corrigé. Il a harmonisé la basse et a ajouté des signes dynamiques.
