Tantrum, im Ursprung ein englischer Begriff für ?Launen?, findet sich in gleicher Form auch in der französischen Sprache. Waterhouse verwendet ein einzelnes, aus lediglich zwei Tönen bestehendes Motiv der Vorlage als Grundlage für sein Stück. Im weiteren Verlauf wandeln sich die Launen, und es entsteht ein Wechselspiel zwischen verschiedenen Stimmungen heiterer und weniger heiterer Färbung.

Tantrum, originally an English term for whims, also exists in French. Waterhouse uses a single motif of the original consisting of only two sounds - this is the basis of his piece. Throughout the composition the whims change, and thus the moods alter - playing with the contrast between jolly elements and more gloomy ones.

Waterhouse utilise pour sa pièce un seul motif original qui comprend seulement deux tons. Par la suite l'ambiance change et les différents climats sereins et moins sereins alternent les uns avec les autres.
