Serenade op. 18/3 - from Six Pieces for Concert and Salon in the 1st to the 4th position

Hugo Schlemüller was born on 2nd October 1872 in Königsberg and died on 7th August 1918 in Frankfurt-on-Main; he worked as a violoncellist in Munich and Leipzig, and later as a lecturer at the conservatory in Frankfurt-on-Main; Schlemüller was the author of various publications (e.g. ?Konzertprogramme der Gegenwart? (contemporary concert programs) 1910/14); he wrote comprehensive teaching methods, virtuoso cello pieces and concerts for violoncello and orchestra. The Serenade is a salon piece, which gives cello students the opportunity to show their progresses in technique up to the fourth position and an expressive tone in a ?concert.
