Toccata and Fugue in D Minor Johann Sebastian Bach / Arr. Erik W.G. Leidzen
The Baroque toccata, designed to suggest an improvisation, was commonly contrasted with the rigidly worked out counterpoint of the fugue. Bach's Toccata und Fugue in D Minor represents the highest dvelopment of both formal procedures, and consequently should be attempted only by the highly skilled. E. Leidzen's transcription for the Goldman Band captures the breadth and magnificence of this music.
