Sonatas G major and E minor BWV 1021 und BWV 1023

It is assumed that the pieces were composed around 1720. At that time, Bach arranged his sonatas in such a way that the bass was freed from the mere role of a continuo and was elevated to the same level as the violin. Kolja Lessing, the violin player, called the violin part careful and sparse. A separate basso part, which also contains the original fingering, rounds off this edition.

Les deux pièces ont été écrites vers 1720. A l'époque, Bach avait l'habitude de donner à la basse la même importance qu'au violon en la libérant du rôle de continue. Le violoniste Kolja Lessing a arrangé la partie de violon soigneusement et de façon restreinte tout en conservant la basse chiffrée originale qui accompagne l'édition.
