Suite C minor BWV 997

The original instrumentation of this composition still remains in the dark as even the first copies did not have a definite instrumentation. The substance of this music, however, won early recognition and soon after, editions and arrangements were published. The suite was first published in the form of a piano work in 1881. Arrangements for string instruments and/or chamber orchestra followed. Diethard Hellmann's edition is not a scientific publication but rather intended for practising music.

Suite en ut mineur BWV 997

Contrairement aux sources habituelles de l'ouvrage de Bach qui nous sont parvenues, les informations sur la Suite en ut mineur sont rares. La distribution originale de cette ?uvre reste un point obscur. Cependant, la haute valeur musicale de la Suite a été reconnue de bonne heure. Robert Franz l'imprima pour la première fois en 1881 pour le clavier. On trouve plus tard des arrangements pour cordes et orchestre de chambre. L'édition de Diethard Hellmann n'est pas une publication scientifique mais destinée à la pratique.
