Einsiedeln's Trees - Die Bäume von Einsiedeln

Einsiedeln's Trees - Die Bäume von Einsiedeln José Suñer Oriola

Composition commissioned by the Blasorchester Siebnen (Switzerland) on the 10th anniversary of its conductor Mr. Blaise Héritier.

This is a particular vision of part of Swiss history centred on the Abbey of Einsiedeln, its movements being:

I-The forest.

Colours, lights, feelings that find an undefined starting theme until it takes shape. It is the beginning of a story, the story of a country.

II-Saint Meinrad.

A single person in the forest looking for his place, helping others, but finally killed by thieves.

III-The Abbey.

In honour of this good person, people wanted to build an abbey. A classical theme based on the leitmotif of Einsiedeln's Salve Regina is the building of the abbey. Finally, the theme of the abbey is set out in the last part of the movement with the sober theme Salve Regina in the form of a chorus.

IV-Waldleute.

The heart of a country: its people. A festive theme will represent the friendly character of its people.

V-Einsiedeln.

The place of the people. A quiet beginning showing the foundation of the town, mixing the themes waldleute and abbey.

VI-Rütlischwur.

The agreement between the first three cantons and the beginning of the nation. Three themes of the settlement talks/negotiations.

VII-Morgarten.

The battle won by the farmers and the founding of a feared army. Variation of a theme of Leopold against themes of Abbey, Waldleute, Rütlishwur, and developing them until Waldleute ended up as the main theme.
