Jedes Jahr sollte Aegeus, der König von Athen, sieben Jungfrauen und sieben Jünglinge zum mythologischen Monster Minotaurus im Labyrinth von Knossos auf Kreta opfern. Sein Sohn Theseus fasste den Entschluss das Monster zu töten und nahm den Platz eines der sieben Jünglinge ein. Ariadne, die Tochter des Königs Minos, verliebte sich in Theseus und gab ihm eine Spule mit Goldfaden und ein wundersames Schwert, damit Theseus den Ausweg aus dem Labyrinth zurückfand nachdem er den Minotaurus getötet hatte.
The Prophecy and Journey to Athens/Sailing to Crete, meeting King Minos/Ariadne, and the Battle with the Minotaur

Once a year, Aegeus, King of Athens, had to sacrifice seven young maidens and seven young men to the mythological monster, called Minotaur, guardian of the labyrinth on the isle of Crete. His son Theseus decided to kill the monster and took the place of one of the young men. Ariadne, daughter of King Minos of Crete, fell in love with Theseus and gave him a spool with goldthread and a miraculous sword thus enabling Theseus to find his way back out of the labyrinth after having killed the Minotaur.

Chaque année, Egée, Roi d'Athènes, devait sacrifier sept jeunes filles vierges et sept jeunes hommes au monstre mythologique Minotaure, gardien du labyrinthe sur l'île de Crète. Son fils Thésée décida de prendre la place de l'un des sept jeunes hommes et de tuer le monstre. Ariane, fille du roi Minos de Crète tomba amoureuse de Thésée et lui donna une bobine de fil doré et un glaive miraculeux. Ainsi, Thésée retrouva la sortie du labyrinthe après avoir tué le Minotaure.

Jaarlijks moest Aegeus, Koning van Athene, zeven jonge maagden en zeven jonge mannen aan het mythologische monster, Minotaurus genaamd, en bewaker van het labyrint op Kreta, opofferen. Zijn zoon Theseus besloot het monster te doden en nam de plaats van één van de jongelingen in. Ariadne, dochter van Koning Minos van Kreta werd verliefd op Theseus en gaf hem een spoel met gouddraad en een wonderbaarlijk zwaard. Zo kon Theseus zijn weg uit het labyrint terugvinden na de Minotaurus gedood te hebben.
