Wir wissen nicht, wie Leonhard von Call (1767 - 1815), der hauptberuflich Finanzbeamter war, zur Musik kam. Auf jeden Fall erfreuten sich seine Kompositionen und sein Gitarrespiel seinerzeit großer Beliebtheit, vielleicht, weil seine gefälligen, nicht allzu schweren Kompositionen den Zeitgeist trafen. Er war ein angesehener Bürger und hatte offenbar wesentlichen Anteil am kulturellen Leben seiner Stadt Wien. Die Serenade op. 55 ist hübsch und abwechslungsreich komponiert und gut geeignet für das Zusammenspiel in der Musikschule.

We do not know how Leonhard von Call (1767 - 1815), who was a civil servant in the ministry of finance, came to write music. But we do know, that many loved his compositions and his guitar play, most probably because his compositions were not too difficult and of pleasing nature, just like the times he lived in. He was a respected citizen and did obviously play a great part in the cultural life of his city Vienna. The Serenade in this edition is very well and variedly composed and suits the interaction in music schools.

Les ?uvres de l?employé des impôts Leonhard von Call (1767 - 1815) avaient un grand avantage: même les amateurs pouvaient les jouer. Ses compositions et son jeu à la guitare le rendirent très populaire à son époque. Il fût citoyen entreprenant et prit part de la vie culturelle de sa ville Vienne. La Sérénade op. 55 est agréable et variée et se prête en particulier pour les élèves et les musiciens amateurs.
