The Longest Day March (Ha) Paul Anka / Arr. Emile Stoffels
This sparkling march is the title song of the 1962 film of the same name, written and sung by Paul Anka, who incidentally also played in the film. The film is about the landing of the Allied troops on D-Day in Normandy; a serious subject, but with this song Paul Anka wanted above all to emphasise the soldiers' willingness to fight. Right at the beginning of the march, when the theme is whistled by the musicians, an upbeat and positive atmosphere is immediately created. All instrumental groups play an important role in one of the two recurring themes and thus work together towards the grand finale.
