Variations on a Romance from the Opera Joseph und seine Brüder by Méhul

The Austrian flutist and composer Raphael Dressler lived from 1784 to 1835. Only 70 out of his approx. 100 flute compositions were published in his time. The new edition presented here is based on an issue from the Library of Vienna. Etienne Nicolas Méhul (1763?1817) lived in Paris and was a popular composer of operas who influenced both the French and the German Romantic period (C.M. von Weber wrote his piano variations op. 28 on the same theme).

Variations sur une romance de l'opéra Joseph et ses frères de Méhul

Le flûtiste et compositeur autrichien Raphael Dressler vécut de 1784 à 1835. De ses quelques cent ?uvres pour la flûte à peu près 70 furent publiées de son vivant. La nouvelle édition présente se base sur une édition conservée à la Bibliothèque de la Ville de Vienne. Le compositeur Etienne Nicolas Méhul (1763-1817) vécut à Paris et fut un compositeur d'opéra célèbre qui influença le romantisme français et allemand. Carl Maria von Weber écrivit ses Variations pour piano op. 28 sur le même thème.
