In Exuberant Celebration Roger Cichy
A marvelous concert opener, In Exuberant Celebration is a short work written and dedicated to Dr. Donald McGinnis, Director of Bands Emeritus at the Ohio State University on the occasion of his 90th birthday. The contemporary, yet tonal work is based on the 3-note motive, A, F and B, the same musical pitches Dr. McGinnis used in his work Symphony for Band. Additionally, since Don McGinnis was celebrating his 90th birthday, Cichy wrote the piece with 100 measures as an omen of good fortune for Don to reach his next biological milestone of 100.
