Variations on a Neapolitan Theme - "Cicerenella" Steven L. Rosenhaus
Variations on a Neapolitan Theme is based on Cicerenella, a traditional tarantella. Written for the U.S. Naval Forces Europe Band and premiered by the ensemble at the Naples Conservatory in Italy, this rousing set of six variations goes off the beaten path with variations in styles ranging from ragtime to waltz, from trepak to bolero, and even a bit of big band swing. Percussion includes optional drum kit and the bass player has chord changes for the swing section for improvisational possibilities -- and the work is on the easier side of Grade 4! Bello!
