Dit werkje is gebaseerd op de melodie van een oude Schotse ballade waarin wordt verhaald van de stille liefde tussen een eenvoudig meisje en een edelman. De fraaie melodie komt in hoofdzaak voor rekening van de baritons.

This work is based on the melody of an old Scottish ballad telling the love story of a simple maiden and a knight. The beautiful melody is mostly to be found with the euphfonium section.
