The traditional song Day-Oh! became very popular when Harry Belafonte (New-York, 1927) put it in his repertoire as 'Banana Boat Song'. This jazz musician discovered by chance that he boasted a unique voice and so he became an internationally famous and popular singer. This song is a ballad telling about people working in the banana trade. The British composer and arranger Terry Kenny wrote this fine wind band version.

Ce musicien de jazz découvre par hasard qu'il dispose d'une voix unique et devient un chanteur populaire de renommée mondiale. Cette chanson est une ballade qui parle des gens qui travaillent durement dans le commerce des bananes.
