Thomas Caplin is a Swedish professor of choral conducting. He works at the Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences in Hamar. He composed this beautiful opus for choir based on the ancient text «Ubi caritas».
The text is often used during Maundy Thursday, describing Jesus washing the feet of his disciples: «Where charity and love are, there God is»

In this arrangement, a smaller group of players are «soloists». The arrangement will work well if the group can be placed on a gallery or at the back of the concert hall.

[NO]Thomas Caplin er født i Malmø (Sverige), men arbeider nå som dosent i korledelse ved Høgskolen i innlandet. Han har her komponert et inderlig og vakkert verk opprinnelig for kor over den gamle latinske teksten «Ubi caritas», en tekst som har inspirert musikere og forsamlinger i mange århundrer.
Teksten sier at «der det finnes nestekjærlighet, der finnes Gud», og i liturgisk sammenheng ble teksten ofte benyttet på Skjærtorsdag.

I dette arrangementet trekkes en mindre gruppe blåsere ut fra resten av korpset. Den mindre gruppen kan med fordel plasseres et stykke fra resten, hvis mulig.
