This song has three stanzas and describes the modest though grateful family life of the infant Jesus with his parents Mary and Joseph. The choral melody is four-part and can be performed harmoniously by a quartet. The score has however been arranged for large orchestra. So, it is possible to realize the most varied sound combinations between woodwind and brass groups, even without singing. All percussion instruments can be used ad libitum'. The text can be sung as four-part choir singing or by one solo voice with accompaniment of winds. A simple piano score has been added for singing rehearsals or small scale performances.

Cette chanson a trois strophes et décrit la vie de famille discrète, mais satisfaisante de m'enfant Jésus avec ses parents Marie et Joseph. La mélodie du choral est à quatre voix et peut être interprétée de façon mélodieuse à partir d'un quatuor, bien que la partition soit arrangée pour grand orchestre. Il est possible de réaliser les combinaisons sonores les plus variées entre groupes de bois et de cuivres, sans participation vocale. La percussion est utilisée ad libitum'. Le texte peut être chanté en chur à quatre voix ou en solo avec accompagnement d'instruments à vent. Pour répéter les parties chantées ou pour des exécutions à effectif réduit il y a une partition pour piano.

Het lied heeft drie tekststrofen en beschrijft het bescheiden, maar tevreden en dankbare familieleven van het Kerstkind Jezus met zijn ouders Maria en Jozef. De koraalmelodie is vierstemmig en kan al met een kwartet goed klinkend uitgevoerd worden. De partituur is echter voor groot orkest bewerkt. Zo is er de praktische mogelijkheid om de meest verscheiden klankcombinaties tussen hout en koperblazergroepen, ook zonder zang, te realiseren. Alle slagwerkinstrumenten kunnen ad libitum' gebruikt worden. De tekst kan in vierstemmige koorzang of enkel als melodiestem (eerste stem van het koor) met begeleiding van blazers uitgevoerd worden. Voor het instuderen van de zangstemmen of ook voor kleinschalige uitvoeringen werd een eenvoudige klavierpartij bijgevoegd.
