"Be Thou My Vision" is the eldest religious song from Irland used in Norway.
The lyrics was originally written in Old Irish and translated to English in 1905 and versified in 1912. The text from 1912 is the most common text used.
In the Nordic countries, the song became very popular in 2003 because of a recording by singers Peter Jöback and Sissel Kyrkjebø.

This arrangement is a duet for alto- and tenorsax with concert band.

[NO]«Be Thou My Vision» er den første religiøse tonen fra Irland vi kjenner som ble brukt i Norge. Den norske tittelen er «Deg å få skode» og er fra 1985 tatt med i Norsk salmebok.
Salmen innledet en bredere interesse for irsk fromhetsliv og musikktradisjon i norsk kirkeliv. Den ble senere gjendiktet til bokmål av Eivind Skeie, og fremført av Hanne Krogh på hennes plate Vestavind (1998).
Melodien er den samme som er brukt i den svenske popballaden «Gå inte förbi», spilt inn av Peter Jöback og Sissel Kyrkjebø i 2003.

Dette arrangementet er en duett for alt- og tenor saxofon.
