Das vorliegende Duo geht auf das Fragment eines Sonatensatzes in B-Dur KV 400 (372a) zurück, das Mozart wohl im Jahre 1781 geschrieben hatte. Laut Köchelverzeichnis sind 91 Takte von Mozart, 57 hingegen von Abbé Stadler, einem Zeitgenossen Mozarts, ergänzt worden. Die Reprise wurde noch von Mozart begonnen. Der Bearbeiter Klaus Holle hat das vollständige Stück nach C-Dur transponiert, um es für Flöte besser spielbar zu machen. Beide Stimmen sind gleichberechtigt ausgelegt. Zur Ausführung, die etwa den Ausbildungsstand der Mittelstufe voraussetzt, sind gute Fertigkeiten im Tonleiter- sowie Arpeggienspiel (Begleitfiguren) notwendig. Das Stück eignet sich gut für den Unterricht und Vorspiele.

One of the few piano compositions written by Mozart during his time in Vienna is the Allegra KY 400, probably composed as the first movement of an entire sonata. Even this allegro has been handed down in fragments only: Mozart only wrote the exposition and development sections. We have to thank the rules of the sonata form for stipulating a certain similarity of exposition and reprise, so that Abbé Stadler succeded in completing this movement in a faithful manner. Transcribing Mozart's music for two flutes is by no means an invention of our days. There are numerous contemporary arrangements, e.g. of opera arias and violin sonatas, perhaps they were written by Mozart himself.

Le duo ici présenté se base sur un fragment d'un mouvement d'une sonate en bémol majeur KV 400 (372a), écrit par Mozart vraisemblablement en 1781. Selon le catalogue Köchel, 91 mesures sont de Mozart, tandis que 57 ont été ajoutée par l'Abbé Stadler, un contemporain de Mozart. La reprise avait été commencée par Mozart. L'arrangeur, Klaus Holle, a transposé la pièce complète en ut majeur afin de la rendre facilement accessible aux flûtes. Les deux parties ont la même importance. L'exécution de la pièce demande un niveau intermédiaire et exige des capacités dans le jeu des gammes et des arpèges. La pièce est idéale pour l'enseignement et pour les concerts.
