Armando Rodriguez composer

Cuban composer Armando Rodriguez studied guitar and music theory at the National School of Arts in Havana, Cuba, and served in the same school as professor of guitar and composition. In 1978, he received the Cuban National Artists and Writers Musical Composition Award. His music was thoroughly performed in Cuba by performers and ensembles, including the National Symphony Orchestra and the Cuban National Ballet. Rodriguez has resided in the U.S. since 1985. He received an Individual Artist Fellowship Award from the State of Florida in 1991. His music has been performed by such renown artists as pianist Max Lifchitz and Beatriz Balzi, guitarists Flores Chaviano and Carlos Molina, double bassist Luis Gomez-Imbert and the Relache Ensemble, and in such events as the Bang on a Can Festival in New York, Subtropics in Miami, Los Primera Jornadas de Musica Contemporenea de Sevilla, the Sao Paulo Bienal, and the Latin-American and Caribbean Music forums. His work has been broadcast in the US, Canada, Europe and Latin America.
