Bob Cotter

Bob Cotter began writing arrangements and compositions for the Largo High School Band in 1969 while attending Florida State University. He attended Florida State University for three years, enlisted in the Air Force, and completed his degree in Music Education at the University of South Florida. Bob began his teaching career in 1975. In 1979 he accepted a graduate assistant position at Northeast Louisiana University and received his Masters Degree in Music Education. After graduation, he was asked to remain at NLU as their Assistant Director of Bands.
Bob has enjoyed a distinguished career as an arranger and composer of marching band and concert band music with well over one hundred pieces published. He has had music published by Jenson Publications, Columbia Pictures/Belwin, William Allen, Counterpoint Publications, Kjos Music and RWS Music Company.
Bob has also produced some of the finest band programs in the country. Currently, he holds six state championship titles and three national titles. After 42 years in education, Bob retired from teaching and now owns Upstate Instrument Repair in Greer, SC. He holds honorary membership in Phi Mu Alpha, a life membership is Kappa Kappa Psi, and is active in NAfME, TBA, and TMEA.
Bob lives with his wife, Donna, and their two dogs, Kevin and Nelybel in Greer, SC.
