geboren in London, 13. Februar 1946. Er absolvierte die Universität von Nottingham, u. a. als Kompositionsschüler von Arnold Whittal und Nicholas Maw. Als Assistent arbeitete er mit B. Britten zusammen, seit 1972 unterrichtete er an der Universität von Sussex.
