Dmitry Varelas

Composer, flutist and arranger, Dmitriy Varelas was born in 1978 in Tashkent (Uzbekistan).
In 1996 graduated with honor from the V.Uspensky Republican Special Musical school majoring in Flute (professor A.Malkeev), Composer (currently professor of Harward University D.Yanov-Yanovsky) and Theory and History of Music (E.Meyke, E.Ostrovskaya) In 2000 he achieved bachelor degree in composition (D.Yanov-Yanovsky) at the Tashkent State conservatory and in 2002 master degree in Flute (A.Malkeev). In 2007 Dmitriy Varelas graduated from the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki (Finland) with master degree in Flute (professor Mikael Helasvuo).
Dmitriy became the participant and prize winner of several competitions and festivals, among them Republican Wind instruments competition in Karshi (Uzbekistan) (1993), International competition in Markneukirchen (Germany) (1997) and ARD Munich (1999), International Flute competition in Lahti (Finland) (2004), International composer competition D.D.Shostakovich DSCH in Paris (France) (2005), International composer competition H.Dutilleux in Paris (France) (2007), International composer competition Tango-Café 2009 and 2010 in Stuttgart (Germany); participant of the International festivals of contemporary music "Ilkhom-XX" (1995-2002), V.Spivakovs foundation Music Festival in Moscow (Russia) (2003), Vänö music festival (Finland) (2004), International Festival of Contemporary music in Athens (Greece) (2006), Symphony Orchestra of India Musical Seasons in Mumbai (India) (2009-2010). Dmitriy Varelas participated on the master-class of Renate Greiss Armin (Germany) (2002), Henrik Svitzer (Denmark) (2003), Moshe Aron Epstein (Germany) (2005), Michel Debost (USA) (2005), and chamber music master-courses with professor Ralf Gothoni (2004-2007).
