Geert De Vos arranger
Geert De Vos took his first music lessons at the age of 8 at the music academy in Aartselaar. Two years later, he started studying trombone with Mark Joris. After four years, Geert switched to the bass trombone. In 1993, he decided to study with Michel Tilkin at the Kunsthumaniora van het Lemmensinstituut in Leuven. He continued his higher studies there and graduated in 2001 as Master of Music with First Prizes in Bass Trombone, Music Theory and Chamber Music. Afterwards, he specialised for one more year and obtained the Higher Diploma Bastrombone with the highest distinction.
Geert was a member of the renowned Gustav Mahler Jugend Orchester, and since 1997 has been a bass trombonist with the Muntschouwburg Orchestra. He also works regularly with various ensembles and orchestras, such as the Wim Mertens Ensemble, the Prometheus Ensemble, I Solisti del Vento, the Rotterdam Philharmonic, Die Rheinische Philharmonie, the Flemish Opera, the Brussels Philharmonic, and others.
In 2008, Geert recorded his first solo CD, Vademecum for Bass Trombone, with the Metropole Brass Band. Geert is co-founder of The Bone Project.
