Gene Milford studierte Musikpädagogik (B.S.-Abschluß) und Musikgeschichte (M.A.-Abschluß) an der Kent State University, wo er zur Zeit an seiner Dissertation in Musikpädagogik arbeitet. In den 29 Jahren Lehrererfahrung, davon 23 an der Edgewood High School in Ashtabula, Ohio, rangierten seine Bands bei von der O.M.E.A. gesponserten Anlässen regelmäßig ganz oben und spielten bei regionalen und nationalen Veranstaltungen. Milford ist im ganzen Bundesstaat als Gastdirigent, Workshopleiter und Preisrichter tätig und hat musikpädagogische Artikel in Triad, Dialogues in Instrumental Musik Education und Contributions to Music Education veröffentlicht. Darüber hinaus erhilet er Aufträge und ein Stipendium vom Ohio Arts Council (1995) und veröffentlichte seine Werke bei Alfred Publishing, Great Works, Heritage Press und Ludwig Music.
